面對經濟結構變遷，丈夫偏離擔負家計維持角色之社會偏好的風險增加，因為預期這些夫妻將遭遇更活絡的性別文化影響，於是由四對丈夫經濟弱勢夫妻長期想要改變對方的歷程裡，所呈現的文化力的運作，進行詮釋分析，以便在「偏離規範」、「夫妻權力歷程」及「性別文化影響」間有更多的理解。研究的結果說明了「以家庭為重」及「丈夫追求事業」等性別信念，總讓妻在改變對方的行徑中猶豫矛盾，妨礙了妻的獲權；再者夫妻面對丈夫非為家計維持的偏離規範，在互動中總有「自動將踰越拉回」的性別矯飾，讓夫妻的權力關連限制在某種不可踰越的範圍之內；對某些基本性別建構，比如「夫才是家計維持角色」的維護，更是夫妻共同參與其中的。由細察規範力是如何落實於權力運作的歷程所得的成果與累積，將協助我們面對運作於夫妻互動的文化力時，將不再只是憑空想像，或是疏忽了們的存在。
英文摘要:
Based on processes of four couples in which wives earn more than their husbands and they want their partners to make changes, this article analyses how the normative gender ideology operates in and shape the marital power. We find wives can exercise more power only when husbands want economic helps from them. Spouses often demonstrate a joint effort to ensure all the unconventional do not feel too unconventional. The costs of being perceived as deviant from the gender-norm were minimized by the gender strategies. Gender ideology and gender strategies which neutralizing deviance usually make wives more disadvantaged. This article also demonstrates what Komter called the hidden power in marriage and highlights how these couples do gender strategies in ways that reinforce the husband's power. And we find these resources are gendered sufficiently so that they are less important or less powerful when contributed by wives.
