The purpose of this research was to examine factors related to marital En-qing in families with disabled children from a family relation perspective. This research comprised two stages. In the first stage, 3 couples with disabled child were interviewed separately to shed light on the stresses they have experienced. In the second stage, with the help of 11 institutes in Taipei city and Taipei county, 407 parents of disabled children completed the questionnaire survey.According to previous research and interview data gathered in the first stage, the construct of parental stress is identified as having 5 aspects. This construct is measured in the second stage of the study and different levels of stress reflected in each item are identified. It is also revealed that gender, employment status, income, education, severity of disability are factors related to stress of parents with disabled child.Regression analysis further verifies that in this special type of family, both sharing parental responsibilities and spousal support increase marital En-qing. Moreover, the stress experienced by parents does not reduce martial En-qing; instead it brings about ”true love in crisis” and increases their gratitude and appreciation toward their spouse. Howerver, prediction powers of parental stress, spousal support and sharing parental responsibilities on marital En-qing are different between husband and wife.
